Norman H Reid, Director of the Strathmartine Centre, has received national recognition for his latest book Alexander III, 1249-1286: First Among Equals, winning the Saltire Scottish History Book of the Year Award for 2019.
The judges commented: “Long-awaited, the outcome of exhaustive research and deep contemplation, this multi-faceted book offers fresh perspectives on a little-known but important Scottish king and a pivotal period in the history of the emergent Scottish nation.”
Norman was given his award, which took the form of a specially commissioned piece by Simon Baker, during a ceremony at the National Museum of Scotland.
