We have had the pleasure of hosting Professor Navarro in recent weeks and he will be giving a lecture at the School of Mathematics, University of St Andrews, based on the vast and unexplored correspondence between Edmund T Whittaker (1873-1956), Edinburgh professor of Mathematics and a convert to Roman Catholicism, and his son, John M Whittaker (1905-1984), who was also a mathematician. Professor Navarro will survey Whittaker’s thoughts and his popular works, which mixed modern physics and mathematics, philosophy, apologetics and theology. All welcome to attend.
