The Strathmartine Trust offers a three-year scholarship for support of a PhD candidate in a subject related to Scottish History, which is awarded for study in the University of St Andrews.
The third Strathmartine Scholar, appointed in 2023, is Jordan Clark, who is undertaking a study entitled Tides of Dissent: Jacobitism and Scottish migration among the Keelmen of Tyne and Wear, 1689-1830.
The Strathmartine Scholarship was first awarded in September 2015 to Morag Allan Campbell for her thesis on ‘This distressing malady’: Madness and childbirth in nineteenth century Scotland.
The scholarship was awarded for the second time in September 2018, supporting the study of Daniel Leaver towards a PhD entitled The Politics of Oil in Scotland’s 1970s.
