This is a final reminder that applications for the 2026 round of Grant Awards must be submitted by midnight on Friday 1 May.
Trustees welcome applications for the following three awards:
Strathmartine Award: Multiple grants of up to £5,000 to support research and education in Scottish History; these awards are intended to assist with the completion of existing projects and to aid publication
Sandeman Award: Multiple grants of up to £2,000 to support research in early medieval Scottish History; eligible work includes research on documentary sources relating to Scotland before 1100 AD, as well as cognate fields such as place‑name studies, art history, and the archaeology of early Scottish peoples (including Scots, Britons, Picts, and Vikings)
Marinell Ash Award: A single award of £500 to support travel and study for a postgraduate student or independent scholar researching any aspect of Scottish or North American history
